What matters to you for our freshwater quality?

Across the Wellington region we have a number of rivers, lakes and streams which are important to our communities to provide our drinking water, sustain aquatic life and as a recreational playground where we swim, fish and sail.

It's important to us at Greater Wellington that we maintain and improve the quality of the freshwater in our region - if it's important to you too and you would like to share some thoughts please join the conversation in this forum.

Utilise Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) to minimise the effect the developing built environment has on the character and quality of our urban streams. GWRC could support this by dedicating funding (along with other Councils in the area) into researching how WSUD can be effectivley implemented in the Region through the use of the policy and rules (RPS, Regional Plan, I understand this is already occuring) as well as non policy such as incentives and technical support and leadership.

What matters to me is to be able to take my dog down to the river and not worry about him dying as a result of it. Unheard of years ago and now seems to just be accepted. Not ok.
