Help us shape the future of Whitireia Park

Consultation has concluded

Nau Mai, whakarongo mai, korero mai!

This is a page for you to kōrero about Whitireia Park, a page for us to speak and listen to each other.

The feedback here will springboard us into our development of the management plan for the Park. Unlike the other Regional Parks, Whitireia is governed by a joint GWRC and Toa Rangatira Trust park board. The Whitireia Park Board, with the support of the community, have the chance to tailor a new management plan for the area.

Our aim is to produce a draft plan by April 2015 based on input from the community, best practice and research.

We welcome you to join events running over the next couple of months and we look forward to hearing your views, stories and submissions online.

Nāku noa nā,

Barbara Donaldson, Chair Whitireia Park Board

We can't change the weather but there are lots of things that we can do to improve the experience visitors have in the Park.  Maybe there are park features and activities that you've seen elsewhere that you think would be good here or maybe when visiting you've made some observation about what needs improvement. Please share your thoughts by clicking on the conversation bubble or topic title.

The current management plan was prepared in 1979.  It's time to update.

Reserve Management plans prepared under the Reserves Act 1977 must state the values of the reserve and how the administering body (i.e. the Whitireia Park Board) will provide for the use, enjoyment, maintenance, protection and preservation of these values. A plan will also explain to what extent development and activities are permitted.

We are interested in your thoughts on what should be in this new management plan.
