In July 2018 we made major changes to Wellington city's bus transport network.
As with any project of this size, it’s usual to review outcomes to check how we did against key objectives, what we learned and what still needs to happen.
We've been listening.
Metlink has held drop-in workshops around Wellington to get your views on how changes to the City Bus Network are working for you. We have also run two online surveys for those who couldn't attend the drop-ins.
The Bus Network Review has run from July to September 2019 and has been very generously supported by bus customers. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Bus Network Review.
The constructive feedback given on what works and what doesn’t has been used to inform a set of network recommendations that will be phased in over three years. Metlink has listened, developed a package of recommended network improvements, and laid out a time-lined action plan to deliver and/or consider the recommended developments and improvements.
We know many people have been negatively impacted by the July 2018 changes and the recommendations and associated actions seek to address known issues over time.
The review recommendations and associated action plan go before Council 12 December 2019. There are plans to look at how we will connect with the rest of the Wellington region in 2020. This will include Porirua, Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa.

The survey takes about 15 - 20 minutes to complete.
We want to know what changes need to,
or could be made to the bus services in your neighbourhood.
This version of the survey is for
people who use buses in the Eastern Suburbs. These are:
Oriental Bay, Roseneath, Mt Victoria,
Evans Bay, Hataitai, Kilbirnie, Rongotai, Lyall Bay, Maupuia, Miramar Heights,
Miramar, Strathmore Park, Seatoun, Karaka Bay, Scorching Bay, Breaker Bay and
Moa Point.
Melrose and Houghton Bay, although
they are in the Eastern Ward, will be considered to be part of the Southern
Suburbs for the purpose of the Bus Network Review.
If your suburb isn't listed - don't
worry, we will be coming to your area later. See all the suburbshere.
You may have already provided
feedback on the new network previously – thank you, our team is considering this as part of the review. This Bus Network Review is an opportunity to provide
specific feedback on the issues important to you.
