Greater Wellington has drafted a new management Plan for eight regional parks and forests and we would like your feedback on it.
The new draft Plan sets directions for management of the regional park network over the next ten years. In late 2018 we asked you, the people of the Wellington Region, for feedback about issues, opportunities, values and aspirations for regional parks. Over 345 people submitted feedback in writing and many others provided feedback in discussions and via social media. A number of key themes emerged. From this we developed a new draft plan.
We invite you to review the draft Plan under the Documents link to the right and let us know what you think. Do we have the strategic direction right? Are environmental protection policies strong enough? Are the things that matter to you about the recreation activities you enjoy in parks reflected? Have we addressed the issues you raised as matters of concern?
How to have your say
Read the draft Plan under the Documents link to the right. You can submit your feedback by answering the short form questions below.
Please let us know if you would also like to present your submission in person at a Council hearing. Council will review submissions, hear and deliberate on possible changes to the draft Plan before they formally adopt it - so your feedback is important. The consultation closes 5pm, Friday 23 October 2020.
If you'd like to submit more detailed feedback, please email it directly to the Parks Planning team: parksplanning@gw.govt.nz
