The Wellington Tramway Museum has operated in Queen Elizabeth Park since 1965 after the closure of Wellington's last public transport tram route. Volunteers restore tram cars and other items and run a museum and tourist tramline for park visitors to enjoy.

Greater Wellington proposes to grant a lease to the Wellington Tramway Museum for a period of 30 years pursuant to Section 59A of the Reserves Act 1977 and Part 3B of the Conservation Act 1987. A new thirty year lease is proposed for the Tramway Museum so they can continue their operations in the park and important heritage conservation work. Public feedback is sought. Please give us your thoughts or suggestions about the proposal or the consultation by using the Q&A tool in the tab below. You can also email feedback about the proposal directly to parksplanning@gw.govt.nz
