We Want to Provide Better Flood Protection for Greytown
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
Consultation has concluded
Severe storms can cause the Waiohine river to flood, damaging property and businesses. We’re proposing ways to address potential flood problems and keen to hear your views.
The newsletter on the right sidebar, ‘We want to provide better flood protection’ will explain what’s being proposed in the draft Waiohine Floodplain Management Plan, and why. It details work towards developing a Floodplain Management Plan for the Waiohine River and lower reaches of the Mangatarere Stream. In particular:
how we manage the river on a day to day basis
how we expect to manage the existing flood problem
how development on the floodplain, such as building works, can progress as safely as possible
how we can provide better warning and response to flooding from the river.
We are keen for you to consider how the plans might protect, or affect, you and your family and provide us with your concerns or opinion.
There are several dates that members of the Greater Wellington Regional Council Flood Protection team will be available to talk you through what’s being proposed. We encourage you to take this opportunity to engage with us. We’re keen to have your feedback by 15 July 2016.
If you would like to complete a formal submission you can do that through the survey form below.
